On October 11, Meizhou Shantou railway will be officially put into operation. Meizhou, the world's passenger capital, will end its history of no high-speed railway. There will be 44 multiple unit trains to and from Meizhou to Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shantou, Zhuhai, Yichang, Xiamen and other places every day. The fastest time from Meizhou to Guangzhou and Shenzhen is only 3 hours and 25 minutes and 2 hours and 52 minutes.

The main line of Meishan railway is 122.4 km long, with a design speed of 250 km / h. The line starts from Meizhou west station in Meizhou City in the north, passes through Meizhou, Jieyang and Chaozhou, and connects with Hangzhou Shenzhen railway at Chaoshan station in Chaozhou City. Seven stations are set up along the line, including Meizhou West, Yujiang north, Jianqiao, Fengshun East, Jieyang, Jieyang airport and Chaoshan station.

The northern part of the line is connected with the existing Zhanglong railway and the planned Guangzhou Meizhou Shantou railway. The expansion project is connected by the new double line, Yingmei railway and Pumei railway from Huizhou to Meizhou via Shanwei. The south is connected with Xiamen Shenzhen railway and Guangzhou Shantou railway.

Meishan railway is the third pilot e-ticket line in Guangdong Province after Guangzhou Zhuhai intercity railway and jiangzhan railway. Along the line, there are seven stations in Meizhou West, Yujiang north, Jianqiao, Fengshun East, Jieyang, Jieyang airport and Chaoshan, all of which are pilot stations for the implementation of e-ticket. On the first day of operation of Meishan railway, the electronic ticket system will be put into use simultaneously. Passengers in the above seven pilot stations will not need to exchange paper tickets after purchasing tickets through 12306 website or mobile app. They can enter the station directly through "swiping mobile phone" or "swiping ID card". It will be more convenient and quick for passengers to purchase tickets and enter the station.

The opening of Meizhou Shantou railway and the optimization of regional railway network structure mark that the northeast of Guangdong Province has access to the national high-speed railway network; the Pearl River Delta region will be more radiated to the outside world, and the construction of industrial transfer park will be accelerated.
