According to China Railway Guangzhou Bureau Group Co., Ltd., Meizhou-Shantou Railway will be officially opened and operated on October 11. Meizhou, the world's passenger capital, will end the history of no high-speed rail. There will be 44 EMU trains running from Meizhou to Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shantou, Zhuhai, Yichang and Xiamen every day. Meishan Railway pulls passengers into the high-speed rail economic circle, which indicates that the northeast of Guangdong Province has access to the national high-speed rail network. The areas along the railway will be more convenient to integrate into the economic and social circle of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Bay Area, which is a major benefit to the local economic and social development. The main line of the railway is 122.4 kilometers in length, and the designed speed is 250 kilometers per hour. The line passes through Meizhou, Jieyang and Chaozhou, and connects with Hangzhou-Shenzhen Railway at Chaoshan Station in Chaozhou City. At the initial stage of operation, Meizhou-Shantou Railway runs 44 EMU trains daily, including 12 Meizhou-Guangzhou, 10 Shenzhen, 8 Chaoshan Station, 8 Shantou and 2 Zhuhai, Xiamen and Yichang. Meizhou citizens can reach Guangzhou-Shenzhen Xiamen by high-speed rail.
