On the eve of the start of the Spring Festival in 2020, the Chengdu EMU of China Railway Chengdu Bureau Group Co., Ltd. concentrated on the replacement of the "foot" of five crh380al EMUs. On January 7, 2016, a 470 meter long crh380al EMU lay on the whole unwheeling crane in the maintenance workshop of Chengdu EMU section, and then it was lifted to half air. At the end of the motor car, two bogies are towed under the motor car, and the mechanical personnel work in groups around one bogie. Each bogie is composed of two wheel sets and spare parts, with a weight of nearly 10 tons. After preparation, a group of whole train type unwheeling machine slowly rises from the ground, holding the bogie to rise until it meets the vehicle body. Then, the machinists carry out mechanical assembly and circuit system assembly.
"the wheel set is the key to the good running of the motor car." Chen Junhan, assistant engineer of maintenance workshop of Chengdu EMU Depot, said that when the running time of EMU wheelset reaches 600000 km or one and a half years, an advanced maintenance, i.e. rotation or repair of wheelset, is needed to ensure the better running of EMU. In order to ensure the "health" of EMU wheel sets, Chengdu EMU is equipped with three "health administrators" for EMU to analyze the running wear data of wheel sets. More than two months ago, they analyzed that part of the wheel sets of the five crh380al EMUs currently allocated to Chengdu EMU are likely to be "sick" (wear to the limit) during the Spring Festival, while the repair of one wheel set of EMU is less than 3 days and more than 7 days. Once the EMU is "hospitalized", it will affect the whole spring festival. For this reason, one and a half months ago, Chengdu began to focus on the rotation of the five EMU wheelsets in advance, replacing 59 "sub-health" wheelsets, and repairing 30 wheelsets. On the same day, the last four wheelsets of crh380al EMU were replaced. The EMU was put into storage on January 4 and 6 wheel sets were replaced. At about 2 p.m., the EMU that completed the "foot replacement operation" was pulled out of the maintenance workshop by the traction locomotive and sent to the servicing garage. Chengdu bullet train section is the only one in Southwest China. The reporter learned that up to now, the 132 standard units of motor cars allocated to this section have all completed the relevant maintenance to fully guarantee the Spring Festival transportation this year.
