Yeh Chih railway capacity expansion and transformation completed operation
On the morning of December 30, 2019, a train loaded with goods slowly drove out of Chifeng south station with flute, marking the completion of capacity expansion and reconstruction project of yeboshou Chifeng railway, one of the earliest railways in China, after 84 years of wind and rain, and its reopening. China Railway 22nd bureau group, the 137.2km Yeh Chih railway, formerly known as Yefeng railway, starts from yebaishou station of Jincheng line in the South and ends at Chifeng station of Jingtong line in the north, with 14 stations in total. With the completion and operation of Yeh Chih railway expansion and reconstruction project, the diesel locomotives previously running will be out of operation. At present, it has become a class I electrified single track railway of China Railway, with the maximum speed of 120 kilometers per hour for electric traction trains, the annual freight transport capacity increased from 20 million tons to 50 million tons, and the annual transport capacity in the long term reached 80 million tons. According to Zhong Zhi, the commander of Ye Chi railway of Shenyang Railway Bureau Group of China, the expansion and reconstruction project of Ye Chi railway not only saves energy, reduces environmental pollution and transportation cost, drives the development of related industries, but also improves the transportation capacity of railway channel and opens a more convenient channel to the sea in the Middle East of Inner Mongolia.
