The Qinghai section of geku railway is 505.6km long, with 15 stations such as Golmud, Wutumeiren, gansen and Huatugou. It is a class I electrified single track railway of national railway, with a design speed of 120 km / h. after it is put into operation, 1 pair of passenger train and 2 pairs of freight train will be operated.
Geku railway is located in the west of Qinghai Province and the southeast of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The line starts from Golmud City, runs westward along the northern foot of Kunlun Mountain and the southern edge of Qaidam Basin, enters Xinjiang, crosses Altun mountain and reaches Korla City. The total length of the line is 1213.7km. It passes through Qaidam Basin and Tarim Basin. It is difficult to construct. It is the national medium and long term railway network planning and the western region Key projects in the large-scale development.
