"I'm fine here"

In April, the highest temperature in Jincheng was 20 degrees Celsius. The hot and humid weather made Jia Yunjie a little uncomfortable. In his hometown, he will wear cotton padded clothes this month. Now, he has put on short sleeves while working.

Jia Yunjie, 52, is the head of grinding workshop of Harbin Engineering machinery section of China Railway Harbin Bureau Group Co., Ltd. Since December 2019, he and 158 employees, together with 16 large-scale road maintenance machines, have traveled more than 3000 kilometers to Guizhou to participate in the construction of Sichuan Guizhou and Shanghai Kunming railway. The work that could have been completed in four months, however, due to an epidemic, he and the 16 mechanical vehicles held together for more than 120 days.

In recent years, the whole road has fully mobilized the resources of large-scale road maintenance machinery. Jia Yunjie has participated in the construction abroad for 5 times.

During the Spring Festival, in order to ensure the safety of 16 large road maintenance machines, Jia Yunjie and 16 workers stayed in Guizhou to look after the vehicles.

Jia Yunjie and some of his colleagues are stationed in duying station of Sichuan Guizhou railway in Guizhou Province. This is an important freight arrival and departure station of Sichuan Guizhou railway line. Each patrol inspection is carried out by two people, who take care of each other. They are responsible for checking whether the wheels and the external parts of the vehicle are damaged, twice a day for nearly an hour each time. It will take nearly half a day to repair the damaged parts.

After the Spring Festival, the workers gathered on time. Jia Yunjie, who was going to take a break to go home, delayed his return. Since March, with the effective control of epidemic prevention, the resumption of work and production has been promoted all over the country. The transportation of coal and other key materials is frequent, and the construction is imminent. Jia Yunjie, who has just packed his backpack and is ready to go home, has received the task of supporting the grinding of Taijiao railway line.

On March 18, Jia Yunjie and 13 workers moved to beibanqiao station of Taijiao railway. Taijiao railway is a single double line crisscross line with complex construction environment. Due to the tight time and heavy task, Jia Yunjie studies the construction plan with the local cooperation unit every day, studies and judges the safety risks, and refines the epidemic prevention measures. After each operation, Jia Yunjie and his workmates also cleaned the iron scraps and dust of the equipment, and checked the hidden dangers of various parts.

After a busy day, Jia Yunjie finally had time to talk to his family via video. Across the screen, he smiled and reported safety to his family thousands of miles away: "everything is fine here."
