Chengdu Guiyang high speed railway helps poverty alleviation through tourism

On December 16, 2019, Chengdu Guiyang high-speed railway opened to traffic, connecting Sichuan, Yunnan and southwest Guizhou, ending the history of non high-speed railway in Yibin in southern Sichuan, Zhaotong in northern Yunnan and Bijie in western Guizhou. From December 24 to 27, 2019, Yunnan Provincial Tourism Planning and Research Institute and Kunming Branch of China Tourism Research Institute organized an investigation team to conduct a field visit along Chengdu Guiyang high-speed railway. The research group consists of 7 members, including representatives from research institutes, universities, planning and design companies, industry associations, etc.

the survey is carried out along Zhenxiong and Weixin counties in Yunnan Province and Yibin and Luzhou cities in Sichuan Province. There are two main themes of the survey: the opportunities brought by the high-speed rail economy to the economic and social development of Zhenxiong and Weixin counties in our province, especially the poverty alleviation through tourism; the role of Chengdu Guiyang high-speed rail in the construction of Yunnan radiation center in connection with the Yangtze River economic belt. research team suggested that Zhenxiong should tap the consumption potential of millions of people, give priority to the development of regional tourism in the trend of consumption upgrading, vigorously cultivate the tourism consumption market, and meet the consumption needs of local and surrounding people. In particular, rural tourism and ecotourism should be developed, tourism and leisure infrastructure construction should be increased, management level and service quality should be improved, tourism should be used to drive poverty alleviation and increase farmers' income. At the same time, the high-speed rail stations far away from the county need to strengthen the connectivity with surrounding areas and other transportation modes.
