The first ring railway network in Northwest China
On December 18, Dunhuang Railway (from Dunhuang in Gansu Province to Golmud in Qinghai Province) was officially put into operation, and the first circular railway network was formed in Northwest China. It is reported that Dunhuang railway is located in Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Qinghai Province and Jiuquan City of Gansu Province. It starts from Liugou station of Lanxin railway in the north, passes through Dunhuang, Aksai and Subei, crosses Qilian Mountains and enters Qinghai Province. Along the Mahai and Dachaidan, it leads to yinmaxia station of SiGe section of Qinghai Tibet railway, with a total length of 671km. The
Dunhuang railway is a class I electrified single track railway of national railway, with double track conditions reserved. The design speed of the line is 120 kilometers per hour, the traction mass is 4000 tons, and the long-term transportation capacity will reach 36 million tons per year.
