Dunhuang Golmud railway is a railway linking Dunhuang and Golmud. The railway starts from Dunhuang railway station and ends at yinmaxia station. There is a connecting line to Golmud station. The total length of the line is about 616, 79km. The feasibility study report was approved in June 2011. The construction started on October 18, 2012. It is designed as class I single track electrified railway with double track conditions reserved. The main line is 509km long, including 263 · 7km in Gansu Province and 245 · 3km in Qinghai Province. The design speed is 120 kilometers per hour, the total investment is about 12.9 billion yuan, and the construction period is 6 years. After the construction and opening to traffic, it will become an important connecting line between Qinghai Tibet railway and Lanzhou Xinjiang Railway. After the completion and opening to traffic, it will be connected with Lanzhou Qingdao railway, Lanzhou Xinjiang Railway and Qinghai Tibet railway to form the first closed ring railway network in Northwest China.
