Since the launching of the first batch of female train drivers'selection and training program in late March this year, Qinghai-Tibet Group Company has selected 23 qualified female workers from various positions on the basis of age, educational background, professional knowledge, physical condition and psychological quality, and adopted the "go-out" and "bring-in" methods to train them.

Twenty-three female workers were trained in Baoji Railway Technician College for three months, and in Xining Locomotive Depot for two and a half months, they were trained in three-level post safety and trained on shift. After strict examinations such as standardized operation and emergency disposal, they obtained the qualification of locomotive co-driver.

In recent years, along with the progress and development of the technology of plateau railway locomotives, the locomotives on the Qinghai Tibet railway line are equipped with microwave ovens, refrigerators, independent washrooms, and equipped with oxygen generating equipment. The working environment has undergone tremendous changes, which has created conditions for female train drivers to take up posts.

Considering the physical and labor intensity of female train drivers, the Qinghai-Tibet Group Company has optimized the locomotive passenger service routes, arranged them to act as inter-city passenger trains between Lhasa and Shigaze and Xining to Menyuan and Lanzhou, as far as possible, made them take on daytime passenger service, strengthened logistical support, improved the basic supporting living facilities of locomotives, and arranged for cars to leave work. Qinghai-Tibet Group Company has set up personal electronic health records for female train drivers, refined health inspection measures, dynamically grasped their health status, and provided a good working environment and humanistic care for the first batch of female train drivers.
