China train ticket purchase documents
Due to the 2025 policy, residents of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau, as well as foreigners, who purchase train tickets in mainland China, will need the following documents:
1. Foreigners (not applicable to residents of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan)
Document Name: Passport
Notes: Please enter your name according to the passport number of each country. Please enter your name, gender, date of birth, and ID number (if displayed) exactly as they appear on your government-issued photo ID.
How do I enter my name?
Name (Use English letters): This field is limited to standard English letters and spaces.
How do I enter my middle name?
The middle name you enter must match the name on your travel document (such as your passport or ID). If your document does not have a middle name, you do not need to enter it and it will not affect your travel.
What if I only have a first name or no last name?
If your name is a single character, please enter it directly in the first name field. If you need assistance, please contact Customer Service to complete your reservation.

2. Taiwan Residents
Document Name: Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents (Taiwan Compatriot Permit)
Notes: Passenger name and ID number must match the name and number on the ID used for boarding. If the selected ID has a Chinese name, enter the Chinese name. The ID number should be entered based on the old and new Taiwan Compatriot Permits.

3. Hong Kong and Macau Residents
Document Name: Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macau Residents (Home Return Permit)
Notes: The passenger's name and ID number must match the name and number on the document used for boarding. If the selected document has a Chinese name, enter the Chinese name. For the 1999 version of the Home Return Permit, enter the first 9 digits of the number.
